Father’s Sweet Whispers in Our Minds and Hearts
“When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.” ~ Psalms 27:8
The other night I wanted to get a Word from the Lord before going to sleep so I searched google images for bible devotions and was just going through the images and the scriptures they shared when I bumped into Psalms 27:8 which says, “When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”
As soon as I read it the Lord gave me a mind-blowing understanding of it that mesmerized me! You see, there were times where I have had the desire to obtain certain spiritual understandings or virtues in order to serve Him better. For the longest time I thought that that desire was something that I wanted to do until I read Philippians 2:13 that reads, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.”
To know that it was Father the one that gave me the inner DESIRE to do what pleases Him was just unspeakably marvelous! When I read Psalms 27:8 Father brought that understanding even more to life. To explain that understanding, I will use an actual experience that my husband had.
About a year ago, we went to bed and he prayed that he desired to be humble as Christ was humble and though it was a dangerous prayer, it proved to be one that the Lord had assigned because that prayer brought forth an experience that produced fruit. Applying Psalms 27:8 to this experience in order to bring it to life, what my husband prayed that night were the Words Father spoke over my husband and were effective because God’s Words never return to Him void. That night the Lord spoke, “Seek my humility,” and my husband’s heart responded, “Your humility, Lord, I will seek.” Later, it proved to be a dangerous prayer because shortly after he sure did humble him, but that is a whole other story.
The point is Father spoke creation into existence with His Word in Genesis when He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. It is no different when He speaks over us in the way that Psalms 27:8 portrays it. Isaiah 55:11 says, “As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
This is how Father brings to pass in us what pleases Him so that it becomes a desire within us that we eventually ask for Him to fulfill. For me, currently, it’s for Father to teach me His ways. I want to know Him intimately and I have been praying for this fervently and seeing that it’s producing fruit. To further explain, every time I have prayed for Father to teach me His ways it’s because Father spoke over me and said, “Seek my ways,” and my heart responded, “Your ways, Lord, I will seek.” I know without a shadow of a doubt that Psalms 27:8 is how the Lord speaks His desires over us and we take them on as our own.
What is something you have been seeking with all your heart for Father to fulfill in you? Isn’t amazing to think that you have that inner desire because He sweetly whispered it over your life?
