Father’s Sweet Whispers in Our Minds and Hearts

Best Friends

“When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”  (Psalms 27:8)

The other night I wanted to get a Word from the Lord before going to sleep so I searched google images for bible devotions and was just going through the images. An image with Psalms 27:8 caught my attention. It reads, “When You said, “Seek My face,” My heart said to You, “Your face, LORD, I will seek.”

As soon as I read it the Lord gave me a mind-blowing understanding that mesmerized me! You see, there were times when I had the desire to obtain certain spiritual understandings or virtues in order to serve Father better. For the longest time, I thought my desire was something that I wanted to do until I read Philippians 2:13 which reads, “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” It was then I understood that Father gives us the desires that rise up to our hearts and with it the power to perform them.

To know it was Father that gave me the inner desire to do what pleases Him was such a marvelous revelation! However, when I read Psalms 27:8 Father gave an even bigger revelation! To better explain that revelation, I will use an actual experience that my husband had.

This happened about a year ago. It was time to go to bed and this time it was my husband's turn to pray. In his prayer, he told Father he desired to be humble as Christ was humble. These are what I call dangerous prayers and weeks later, this particular prayer proved to be a dangerous one. Weeks later after this prayer, the Lord brought forth a painful experience that produced the fruit of humility in my husband in a way that transformed his life forever. I will apply Psalms 27:8 to this experience to bring the understanding of this Psalms to life.

When my husband prayed for humility that night, those were not my husband's words, they were the Words Father spoke over my husband. The proof of this is found in Isaiah 55:11 which reads, "In the same way, my words leave my mouth, and they don’t come back without results. My words make the things happen that I want to happen."

The fact that there was an experience that produced humility is proof that my husband was praying Father's Words that night. The night my husband prayed for humility it was the Lord who spoke that desire into my husband. If I apply Psalms 27:8 to this experience, what the Lord said over my husband that night was, “Seek my humility,” and my husband’s heart responded and prayed, “Your humility, Lord, I will seek.”

Father spoke creation into existence with His Word in Genesis when He said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. It is no different when He speaks over us in the way that Psalms 27:8 portrays. What Father speaks over us will come to pass. Sometimes it'll come up as a desire for a virtue, a desire to know Him, or a desire to experience Him more, etc. In all instances, if something comes to pass, it was Father who spoke it into our hearts.

Psalms 27:8 is how the Lord speaks His desires over us and how we take them on as our own. This is how Father brings to fruition in our lives what pleases Him. His spoken Word over us becomes a desire within that we cannot help but ask Him to fulfill.

Currently, for me, it’s for Father to teach me His ways. I have been praying fervently to get to know Him more intimately and already there is much fruit being produced. Now I know without a shadow of a doubt that when I prayed to Father to reveal to me His ways, it is because Father spoke over me and said, “Seek my ways,” and my heart responded, “Your ways, Lord, I will seek.”

What gift, virtue, wisdom, understanding, or revelation have you been seeking with all your heart for Father to fulfill in you? Isn’t it amazing to think that you have that inner desire because He sweetly spoke it over your life?
